ENG 170 - Multiethnic American Literature (3 cr.) An introduction to the comparative study of the literature produced by diverse U.S. ethnic groups, including Native American oral legends, narratives and testimonies, African American literature, and the writings of Latino and Asian Americans. Selected works serve as a way to understand each group’s response to and relations with U.S. society and institutions, and to the mainstream historical narrative.
