BIO 203 - Microbiology (4 cr.)


The biology of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, prions, viroids, protozoa, and algae (with a focus on bacteria). The course will introduce fundamental aspects of microorganisms, including their structure, growth, metabolism, genetics, and diversity. The course will then build on these fundamentals to discuss applications of microbiology, including health, disease, food production, industry, ecology, and laboratory methods in microbiology.
