MGM 350 - Introduction to Mathematical Modeling in Business (3 cr.)

This course provides an introduction to the principles and practices of Operations Research, with a focus on mathematical programming and optimization techniques. Students will explore how mathematical models are developed and applied to solve complex business problems and support informed managerial decision-making. The course covers key deterministic methods in operations research, including linear programming, network flows, transportation, assignment, transshipment problems, project management (CPM/PERT), and simulation models. Emphasis is placed on the mathematical formulation of real-world business challenges, running and interpreting computer-generated solutions, and performing sensitivity analysis on optimal solutions.
