Curriculum 0705

The majors and minors in foreign languages offer a well-rounded and balanced liberal arts education. Cultural studies focusing on the intellectual, geographic, political, economic, and social structures of the countries in which each language is spoken, and courses geared to developing the ability to analyze, comprehend, and discuss literary themes and art forms, complement the department’s fundamental objectives to expand the student’s oral and written language proficiency and cultural sensibilities to the broadest extent possible. For more information contact the Modern Languages and Cultures Department . Additional Degree Requirements


  1. Completion of all Undergraduate Degree Requirements, including General Education: The Cardinal Core Curriculum, elective courses if applicable, and a total of 120 credits minimum. 
  2. A minimum GPA of 2.0 in Major Departmental Requirements.
  3. A minimum grade of C in all Spanish (SPA) courses.
  4. Students are encouraged to spend time abroad.
