The business program within the School of Business and Economics (SBE) is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, AACSB International. SUNY Plattsburgh is the first non-Ph.D. granting SUNY institution to have its business program be a member of the group of prestigious business programs that are accredited by AACSB International. Currently, approximately 6% of business programs worldwide are accredited by AACSB International.
Accreditation by AACSB International certifies that the SBE provides a high-quality business education supported by strong and continuously improved curricula, faculty, and instructional facilities. Accreditation also ensures that the SBE’s mission is appropriate and meets the high standards of prestigious business schools: “We provide our diverse learner population with an affordable and high-value business education. We develop responsible professionals for careers of impact throughout New York State and the world and foster a strong collaboration with organizations in our surrounding community. We accomplish this through excellence in teaching and faculty scholarship, strengthened by applied learning, mentoring, and community and alumni engagement.”

The business programs develop competence and skills in such functional fields as accounting, business law, economics, finance, international business, marketing, management, organizational behavior, quantitative analysis, technology, and strategy. Building on the business core requirements , each major’s curriculum includes decision-making leadership principles, writing, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving strategies. The programs also help students prepare for graduate study in business or specialized areas and related disciplines, such as data analytics, accounting, law, economics, and international business.
The School of Business and Economics also offers minors in accounting, business, business analytics, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, forensic accounting, global supply chain management, international business, management information systems, and marketing, as well as a more quantitative minor in business analytics. Specialized joint minors in broadcast management and economic and environmental sustainability are also offered to broaden career opportunities for students.
