GEL 342 - Paleobiology and Paleoecology (4 cr.) Study of the history of life and the conditions under which life evolves and becomes preserved. Topics explored include the nature of the fossil record; mechanisms for fossil preservation; recognition and description of fossil taxa; interpretations of ancient organismal morphologies, ecologies, interactions, and behaviors; the deep-time record of organic evolution; and patterns of global biodiversity change through time.
