GEG 532 - Environmental Justice (3 cr.) This course provides an introduction and overview to the field of environmental justice. We will look at criticism of the American environmental movement, including calls for the movement to diversify. We will examine historical cases of environmental injustice, which disproportionately affected communities of color, and we will ask critical questions about whom the environmental justice movement has excluded. Finally, we will reflect on our own roles in perpetuating or disrupting current perceptions of environmentalism, and addressing environmental injustice in our own communities. Liberal Arts Prerequisite(s): MS Natural Resources & Ecology Graduate Student; or POI Semester(s) Offered: Varies
