MLC 280 - Latin American Cultures Through Film (3 cr.) MLC 280 is an introduction to Latin American cultures by viewing narrative films, political films, documentaries, and social dramas. Selected representative works by directors such as Arturo Ripstein, González-Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuarón, Pablo Larraín, Héctor Babenco, Claudia Llosa, Paula Hernández and Damian Szifron will be used to explore topics like political struggle, injustice, immigration, discrimination, human agency, and diaspora identities. This course also includes the study of the cinematographic language and its conventions.
