MLC 220 - Latin American and Spanish Literature in Films (3 cr.) MLC 220 is a class on Latin American cultures through literature and film adaptations to better understand the societies in which they were produced. It includes selections of chronicles, novels, and short stories by authors like Miguel de Cervantes, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel García Márquez, Isabel Allende, Mario Vargas Llosa, Julio Cortázar and Laura Esquivel; and film directors like Christopher Nolan, Jon Amiel, María Luisa Bemberg. It covers adventure films, detective and political motion pictures, documentaries, and social dramas, and includes the study of the cinematographic and literary languages and their conventions.
