PSC 371 - African-American Political Thought (3 cr.) How do significant figures from the history of Black politics - Frederick Douglass, Ida B. Wells, W.E.B. Du Bois, and more - help us think about race in the 21st century, and about Black Lives Matter and its antecedents? This course explores this question by engaging Black political thought from the abolitionist movement, Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras, and the Civil Rights/Black Power movements. It also analyzes recent developments in Black feminism, Black Lives Matter, and Afrofuturism.
