MLC 270 - European Cultures Through Film (3 cr.)

MLC 270 is an introduction to European cultures by viewing narrative films, including war films, spy films, documentaries, and psychological dramas. Selected representative directors such as Vertov, Buñuel, Tarkovsky, Wajda, Bergman, Varda, Fellini, Almodóvar will be used to explore topics such as land ownership, and romanticism as the historical frame for human relations, national and local identities, post-colonial effect and immigration to Europe, virtuosity and experimentalism in film making.
