MAT 131 - Quantitative Reasoning in Basic Math (3 cr.) Problems solving grounded in fundamental math using non-trivial real-world problems. Practice in making sense of a given problem, abstracting essential mathematical concepts, and developing strategies to arrive at a solution, distinct from rote memory and mimicking previously worked problems. Figuring out how to solve the problem is the focus.
