CLG 551 - Introduction to Human Sexuality and Sex Therapy (3 cr.)


This course provides opportunities for students to develop a broad theoretical understanding of human sexuality across the lifespan and facilitate skill development to assist individuals and couples with sexual concerns.  It is designed to provide scientific information on the assessment, conceptualization, and treatment of sexual concerns in counseling by focusing on the following areas: healthy sexual development, sexual functioning, sexual identity development, sexual anatomy & physiology, sexual response cycle, contraception, infertility, and sexually transmitted infections. Students will learn interventions that allow them to treat sexual disorders, poor sexual communication, and sexual trauma.
