PRE 111 - Tales from the World of Spin (3 cr.)


This course provides a critical analysis of historical and contemporary media in America throughout the last century focusing on ethical and legal issues, organizational values, media manipulation and transparency.  It examines how public relations and media can be transformative in society’s collective thinking and behavior. It will engage students’ critical thinking about the power of the media and its effect on politics, economics, culture and other components of U.S. society. This is an introductory course in public relations and is the ethics requirement for the major.
