GWS 385 - Women, Gender, and Sexualities in India (3 cr.)

By approaching gender and sexuality as configurations- multiple, contested, and always in flux- this course explores how gender and sexuality are produced, experienced, and fought at specific moments in India. It shows how female and non-normative genders and sexualities were and continue to be the grounds for debates on religion, community and nation and how gender and sexuality are produced not as chronological identities but as articulations of different cultural, ideological and economic forces that come together in specific times and places.
