Sometimes these are manifest as formal institutions, sometimes as complexes of myth, magic, and beliefs about spirits. This course explores the broad range of forms that religion can take. It considers how religion may have originated; the structure of ritual and myth; ideas about shamanism, healing, ghosts, and ancestors; and how religions change.
