CSD 342 - Introduction to Phonetics (3 cr.) This course will include the study of the science of speech sounds as elements of language and their acoustic, articulatory and physiologic characteristics; transcription practice of both normal and impaired speech using the International Phonetic Alphabet, and analysis of articulatory errors. Students will also be asked to examine dialect/cultural differences in speech sound production versus impaired speech production. Liberal arts Prerequisite(s): A grade of C in CSD 241 .
