ENG 185 - Intro to Writing Poetry & Creative Nonfiction (3 cr.) An introduction to the art and craft of writing poetry and creative nonfiction. Students learn core concepts, techniques and essential practices common to writing poetry and creative nonfiction. Readings will focus on learning to read as writers and, through various exercises and activities, students will apply what they learned to their own work. At the end of the semester, students will produce a portfolio of original poetry and creative nonfiction. This course serves as a foundation for continued exploration of poetry and creative nonfiction writing and as an introduction to the community of professional writers.
