ENG 369 - Autobiographical Writing/Memoir (3 cr.) This course focuses upon first person texts about personal and family experience, including the personal essay, memoir and the diary/journal. Students will read, discuss, analyze and write in this genre with an emphasis upon various autobiographical styles and modes - from trauma narratives to the humor essay and the keeping of family histories. The works covered in the course represent a broad swath of memoir/autobiographical material and writing styles. Students will seek to locate and develop their own “writer’s voice” and story narratives while practicing a variety of memoir strategies. Liberal arts Prerequisite(s): ENG 101 .
