ENG 271 - Latinx Literature and Culture (3 cr.)

An introduction to the literature produced by Latinx writers in the United States, with a focus on the history and cultures that shape the shared lived experiences influencing their literary expression. From a transnational perspective, students explore and critically examine various topics and themes across multi-genre texts. Themes include migration; identity and ethnicity; cultural and linguistic hybridity; colonization, conflict and resistance. These themes are further complicated as they are critically studied across gender, sexuality, class and racial lines.
