PSC 231 - Introduction to Political Thought (3 cr.) It is said that the United States is a government of laws, and not people. What does that mean? What is law and how is our legal system structured? What role has law played in supporting power and privilege in the United States? In this course, students will discuss the sources and purpose of law, survey various areas of law (constitutional, criminal, family, property, etc.), and examine the extent to which law can and does address societal problems.
