SWK 302 - Generalist Practice I (3 cr.) This is the first course in a series of three courses that prepare students for generalist professional practice. Students are introduced to the purposes, historical roots, structure, fields of practice, values and ethics of professional social work. Generalist professional practice is defined, and a systems approach to persons(s)-in-environment practice with client systems of various sizes and diverse types is presented. Planned change processes used in micro, mezzo, and macro level practice are introduced. Communication skills and self-reflection are included. Prerequisite(s): Junior Social Work Major, SOC 101 ; PSY 101 ; BIO 100 or BIO 103 ; MAT 161 ; and cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater. Semester(s) Offered: Fall
