SOC 340 - Sociological Theory (3 cr.) This course provides students with a basic foundation in classical and contemporary sociological theory. The course explores such key questions as “What is society?”, “How is social order possible?”, “What is the relationship between society and the individual?”, “How is human behavior to be explained?” “What is the purpose of sociology?”, by comparing and contrasting the diverse theoretical approaches that different sociological traditions have adopted.
