EXP 421 - Outdoor Living Skills Leadership (3 cr.) EXP 421 emphasizes the core competencies required of leadership in the outdoors. Beginning with an analysis of the concepts of leadership and relevant learning theories, this course studies individual behavior and motivation in adventure settings, group dynamics, risk management, specialized skills for adventure leaders and adventure pedagogy. These materials are addressed in back country conditions and with badkpacing and paddlesport groups. The class may be taught at the Twin Valleys Outdoor Education Center (Lewis, NY ) and other Adirondack locales. Course may be repeated once for total of 6 credits.
