Special Education - Birth to Grade 12, M.S.Ed. (Online)


Curriculum 8087

The major purpose of the graduate program in Special Education is to prepare master teachers capable of meeting the educational needs of students with disabilities. Admission to this program is offered to students who hold a B.A., B.S., or M.S.T. in early childhood, elementary/childhood, or special education, with initial certification in early childhood, elementary/childhood education, special education/students with disabilities, or speech and language disabilities or students who hold a B.A., B.S., or M.S.T. in Adolescent Education with initial certification in Adolescent Education in any content area. This program will accept students beginning Summer 2026.

Additional Degree Requirements


All education majors and students seeking to enter an education program, must meet the following eligibility requirements for ALL education programs

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to enter and remain in the program. Education majors with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 will be reviewed by the Education Department Academic Progress Committee for possible dismissal from the major.

  2. A grade of B or better in all required education courses in order to continue the program.

  3. Minimum grade of C in all conditions courses.

  4. All education and conditions courses all must be satisfactorily completed prior to Student Teaching.

  5. Successfully conduct themselves professionally at all times.

  6. Demonstrate professional ethical behaviors.

  7. A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 in all required major courses.
