The program provides strong content knowledge, hands-on personal training experience as well as business, management and clinical rotations that will help you gain employment as a personal trainer, fitness professional, health or fitness manager and business owner. Major Departmental Requirements 47-56 Credits
Concentration 15-23 Credits
Select one of the following concentrations: Fitness Management Concentration: (21 cr.)
Fitness Management Elective
Select one course from the following: Allied Health Science Concentration: (22-23 cr.)
Physics: (4 cr.)
Select one from the following: Athletic Training Concentration: (15 cr.)
Sports Nutrition Concentration: (16 cr.)
Cognate Requirements 22-25 Credits
Chemistry: (4 cr.)
Select one course from the following: (Students in the Allied Health Concentration must take CHE 111 ) Fitness: (3 cr.)
Select one course from the following: (Students in the Sports Nutrition Concentration must take FNI 211 ) Additional Degree Requirements
- Completion of all Undergraduate Degree Requirements , including General Education: The Cardinal Core Curriculum , elective courses if applicable, and a total of 120 credits minimum.
- A grade of C or above for each course listed under Departmental Requirements.
- A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 in all required major courses (Major Departmental Requirements).
- Must obtain American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer Certification or receive permission by instructor prior to taking FIT 401
