This certificate will provide our students with a sophisticated understanding of how information technology affects the world they live in, in general, and in their profession, in particular, and that will help them become computer literate. Students will acquire knowledge skills in the application of information technology in the provision of healthcare. Certificate Requirements 15 Credits
Healthcare Informatics Electives: (9 cr.)
Select three courses from the following: Additional Requirements
- Associate degree or higher
- A minimum of one year work experience in a healthcare or information technology field.
Note:
Students should select MIS 303 as an elective if they plan to take MIS 401, MIS 402 or MIS 404. However, if a student has the necessary programming experience/background, then she/he can apply to waive this requirement. The instructor of MIS 303 will review the application and make the decision. Students are able to complete the above program with 15 credits of course work, including prerequisites (which are built into the program requirements). Program faculty will review academic records of program applicants to determine the extent to which course prerequisites may be waived based on applicants’ prior academic preparation. Note:
This program is not directly eligible for federal or state financial aid. However, coursework within the program may qualify for aid if it counts as electives toward another aid-eligible degree program or is taken in addition to a full-time course load of 12 aid-eligible credits. |
