CRI 360 - Race, Crime, and Justice (3 cr.) This course is a critical examination of the intersection of race, ethnicity, and crime, and the economic, political, and sociological reasons why racial and ethnic minorities are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. This course also analyzes the historical relationship between race and criminal justice, and the role that racism plays in policing and punishing racial and ethnic minorities. The media’s influence on race, crime and justice, particularly the stereotypical images of offenders and victims, will also be explored.
Liberal arts Prerequisite(s): SOC101, CRI150 and/or CRI250. Semester(s) Offered: Every other Spring
