EDU 230 - Social Contexts in Learning (3 cr.) Teacher candidates will analyze social contexts and their implications for learning. They will explore schools as societal institutions to identity aspects which perpetuate a system of dominance and oppression. In addition, teacher candidates will examine the classroom as a learning community for all students - including managing for student learning, language acquisition, literacy development, inclusion and use of technology. (Minimum of 10 hours of field experience). This course fulfills state-mandated requirements for the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Prerequisite(s): EDU 130 or equivalent; B.S. Childhood Education or Combined B.S/M.S.Ed major. Corequisite(s): EDU 230L Semester(s) Offered: Fall, Spring
