ENG 194 - Literature Through Time (3 cr.)


A study of selected literary voices from the English and/or American literary traditions, using various genres from the medieval period to the twenty-first century. Students will learn about movements such as neoclassicism, romanticism, and modernism, through which writers reflected and shaped their culture. They will make connections between the works produced and the contexts in which they were produced. They will also learn to make connections between past and present treatments of social issues. They will learn the characteristics of literary genres as they developed over time as well as the vocabulary of literary criticism.
