ANT 250 - Medical Anthropology (3 cr.) An introduction to the ways that cultures approach medicine, disease, and the body. How do cultural ideas about health shape different approaches to diagnosis and treatment of illness? How do evolution, ecology, and resources shape different experiences and outcomes of disease? How do cultural distinctions like age, gender, ethnicity, and wealth affect human health? This course explores the many paths cultures take toward health and healing, illuminating the diversity of human medical systems and suggesting ways to improve our own.
