CRI 150 - Introduction to Criminal Justice (3 cr.) This introductory course examines the American criminal justice system within the context of U.S. identities, exploring its history, philosophy, and key components-police, courts, and corrections. Students will analyze crime definitions, causation theories, legal foundations, and policy trends while examining ethical considerations, victims’ rights, and societal impacts. The course also addresses contemporary challenges, technological advancements, and global influences, highlighting how criminal justice practices shape and reflect national identity, values, and social change.
