PHI 304 - Technology and Being Human (3 cr.)

This course philosophically examines technology and its effect on social practices and concepts of being human. The course begins by analyzing definitions of and raising ethical issues about technology. The remainder of the course explores ways we are using technology: to shape our concepts of the self and social relations; to enhance the human body and cognitive functions; to blur the distinction between human and machine, and construct a radically new way of being human.
