PSY 551 - Consultation (3 cr.) This course will explore principles and practices of consultation and common models of school-based consultation, with an emphasis on collaborating and communicating effectively using the problem-solving model of consultation. The course will cover the importance of using preventative pre-referral methods, such as multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and systems-level interventions, to diminish the likelihood of pupils being referred to and placed in special education programs. Ethical and legal issues encountered in consultation will also be reviewed. Prerequisite(s): School Psychology Graduate Student. Semester(s) Offered: Fall
