NUR 435 - Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (4 cr.)


Psychiatric and mental health concepts and selected theoretical frameworks are used to prepare the student as a provider of mental health care. The student identifies psychosocial risks in vulnerable populations, and promotes, maintains, and restores mental health. The course incorporates the American Nurses Association Standards for Practice and the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses competencies. Legal, ethical, cultural and social justice issues are emphasized.  Applied clinical learning experiences in acute and community settings provide thestudent with opportunities for interprofessional collaboration and engagement with clients and their families.
Prerequisite(s): satisfactory completion of all junior level nursing courses.
