MGM 445 - Principles of Operations Management (3 cr.) This course is an introduction to the design, management and control of manufacturing and service operations, which transform inputs into goods and services. The course presents a view of the primary activities of the operations function in organizations. Students will examine the major operations management decisions and the basic tradeoffs associated with them. They will also learn to identify and quantify operating characteristics of different manufacturing and service systems and apply a variety of techniques and quantitative methods used by operations managers to optimize the performance of their operations. Topics include product and service design, capacity planning, process selection and design, facility location and layout, supply chain management, forecasting, operations planning and control, inventory management and MRP, quality management, statistical process control, process analysis and improvement. Prerequisite(s): ACC 202 , MIS 275 or MGM275, ECO 260 , MGM 280 . Semester(s) Offered: Spring
