HIS 396 - Social Studies Teaching Methods (3 cr.) This course examines the focus, methods, and debates of the social sciences and strategies for teaching these topics in social studies. The course is designed to help prepare pre-service teachers to teach adolescent learners effectively in the social studies classroom. Prospective social studies teachers will learn to describe educational goals, learning objectives, and student outcomes and then to match them to instructional materials, teaching processes, assessment practices, and the adolescent learning process. Students of this course will gain practical experience in developing and teaching effective social studies lessons. Liberal arts Prerequisite(s): HIS 285 . Semester(s) Offered: Fall
