ENG 262 - The Many Faces of Love (3 cr.) This course explores literary depictions of love, broadly defined. Beginning with ancient texts by Plato and Sappho and moving to the modern eras, it examines affection, friendship, erotic love, charity, and divine love, among other types of love. We will explore love in all of its many forms-as both redeeming and enriching and also as destructive. Focusing on printed texts, the course also examines representations of love in art, graphic novels, film, and in the political and social movements in which love functions as a driving force.
