ENV 532 - Forest Ecology and Management (4 cr.)

Evaluates interrelationships between basic forest ecosystem factors and processes. Students in this course become proficient with standard forest menstruation instrumentation and techniques. The course also focuses on forest cover type identification. Students who take this course can describe forest stands and ecosystems in terms of structure and composition and compare the similarities and differences between natural disturbances and silvicultural treatments. Students also gain enhanced proficiency with sampling protocols, data management and statistical analyses and improve their ability to write scientific reports. The course is structured to discuss a topic in a classroom, collect and analyze field data then synthesize and interpret biological outcomes. Lecture/Lab
